The Rundown: Thor recounts his epic battle with the Black Winter and the fate of Galactus.

Silver Surfer comes to Asgard to speak to the king. He wants to know what happened during his final battle with the Black Winter and more importantly, why the thunder god has hidden himself away and won’t speak about it. Norrin reminds Thor that they are kindred spirits and the thunder god recounts his tale.

Thor stands between Galactus and the Black Winter after learning the truth of how the eater of worlds came into the universe. As Galactus calls on his new herald to fight back, Thor has other plans and decides to use not only the power he’s been given, but the power of Galctus himself to stop the threat of both entities in an epic battle that will change the king of Asgard.

The Story: Donny Cates brings this arc to an epic conclusion fill of power, intensity and thunder. I was blown away by this story and how grand and epic in scale it was. Framing it with Silver Surfer was a great choice and the dialogue is poetic. The story unfolds brilliantly and the conclusion was both ominous and engaging. I want to see what happens in the aftermath of this tale as well as what it being teased to come. A great story from start to finish.

The Art: Nic Klein matches the epic tone of the story with art that is sublime and filled with detail, energy and intensity. There is power in every panel as Thor faces off against both Galactus and the Black Winter. Klein builds the intensity level higher with each panel and doesn’t stop until the beautifully rendered final panels.
