The Rundown: Doom reveals the truth to Tony as he continues to create a way to stop the Maker.

Doom thinks back to the time where he was just Reed Richards and the friendships he made during that time. Friendships that ended when the Maker arrived and took everything from him. At the same time, he continues to work on a new experiment with cosmic rays giving willing subjects powers that will allow them to become Ultimates and help fight the Maker when he ultimately returns.
Contemplating who and what he has become, he believes that he is too dangerous to stay with the team, but some advice from Hank Pym and Tony Stark convince him to try. Unfortunately, there is still something missing from the man and he is determined to continue his experiments no matter the cost.
The Story: Camp creates an engaging story for Doom in this issue. Making Doom the focus of the story adds some great elements of tension for the reader as I wondered what was taken from him and what it means for the Ultimates as a team. I like the subtle danger the character evokes which may or may not be by his own making. The Fantastic Force is an interesting concept and I am interested in seeing how it evolves in the course of the story.
The Art: I really enjoy Noto’s art and visual style. It just felt out of place tonally for the story being told in this issue. It was more lighthearted than I think the dark, somber tone of the story deserved.
