The Rundown: The introduction of a new resident in Walter’s world brings a possible means of escape.

After finding the other house and discovering a way to open it, the group is introduced to Reg, a former high school friend of Walter who has been living in the house alone and coming up with a theory about why they are there and that there might be a way to save the world. What’s more interesting to Rick is that there has been a running transcript to Reg of everything they have said in the house and that might hold the key to getting out and more.

Reg recalls a moment in his past with him, Walter and Norm and how Walter would space out thinking that time was running out and wishing he could isolate the people he cares about. In the midst of their conversation, Walter reveals that he needs to tell his best friends the truth. A truth Reg tries to reveal to his fellow captives in the present. Reg reveals what Walter told them when they were younger and the part he played in the events that followed. Events that Walter cannot allow his friends to upend.

The Story: I was truly blown away by the way this issue unfolded and all of the twists and turns the story took in its pages. Not only was the reveal about Walter brilliantly done, but it adds a deeper layer to the story and gives the reader a new mystery to be engaged with. Everything from the introduction of Reg to the way the flashbacks interweave into the story was wonderful and the ending has me clamoring for the next issue.

The Art: Alvaro Martinez Bueno delivers some stellar visuals throughout this issue. Not only are the character moments visually compelling, but the use of shadow throughout is amazing.
