SyFy, which is owned by NBCUniversal has handed out a pilot order for a new sci-fi drama from Dark Horse Entertainment.

Resident Alien is a Dark Horse Comic series written by Peter Hogan and drawn by Steve Parkhouse. It follows the adventures of an alien named Harry who crash lands on Earth and takes on the identity of a small town Colorado doctor. After trying to find a way to hide from the humans around him and using his telepathic powers to convince them he’s human, Harry is brought in by the local sheriff to help solve the murder of the previous town’s doctor. He becomes fascinated with humans and decides to stay on as the doctor, helping to solve other mysteries in the town. At the same time, a government agency that is aware of the crash landing begins to hunt for the ship’s occupant.

Resident Alien is being adapted to the small screen as a comedic drama by Chris Sheridan (Family Guy). Sheridan will executive produce the series with Dark Horse Entertainment president Mike Richardson and Amblin’s Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank (The Americans).

If Resident Alien goes to series, it will be another comic book adaptation for the network behind Happy!KryptonWynonna Earp and the upcoming Deadly Class.
