The Rundown: Waller regroups after a defeat. Superboy learns a harsh truth. And Colonel Flagg formulates a plan.

Colonel Flagg expresses his beliefs to Waller regarding Task Force X. He then narrates their recent history together, as well as some of her recent lapses in judgment. In the present, Waller threatens an employee before discovering someone powerful is having an issue. Meanwhile, Superboy has a deadly confrontation that yields surprising information. His foe then calls for back up as Superboy has a surprising reaction.

As Calebra and Nocturna try to find something to help their teammate, they discover something shocking. They then share this information with the team and a new ally. Elsewhere, Waller disappears after initiating a protocol, and the members of Task Force X follow suit. In another location, Colonel Flagg enlists someone surprising to help fight against Waller.

The Story: This mind blowing annual directly follows the events of Issue #6. Here, Superboy’s entry into the Suicide Squad is finally revealed. The circumstance surrounding his relationship with Waller are disturbing. But her current mind set is even more so. Now that she has placed herself and team in a precarious situation, it will be interesting to see how she proceeds. Of note in this chapter, is Colonel Flagg. I am very curious to see what happens with his plan and what future ramifications will occur.

The Art: The artwork in this issue features detailed drawings with special emphasis placed on facial features and character form. The color work is dark but bold and timely. With the different scenes changing in tone to suit the shifts in the story. Overall I found this episode to be very engaging and appealing.
