The Rundown: Laura returns to Stillwater with a plan.
Laura surprises Daniel at home with her return. After talking to him about her life outside of Stillwater, she reveals that she has a plan to end their captivity once and for all. A plan that will have to be implemented in secret in order to avoid all-out war. While Tanya has her misgivings about the plan, Daniel knows that something has to be done and done fast.
The next night, they put their plan into action by going after both the sheriff and the mayor at the same time. While Daniel’s mission has little difficulty, Laura’s confrontation with the mayor gets complicated. When Ted arrives and captures Daniel, Laura decides to do something drastic. Something that will change Stillwater and the curse.
The Story: Zdarsky does some completely unexpected and exciting things with the story in this issue. There are some great twists throughout and I love the pacing of it. It moves with intent and tension. The writing is great and you feel immersed in the struggles of the characters as you want them to succeed and I was pleasantly surprised with how the story ultimately unfolded and what its twist ending means for the characters and the town.
The Art: Perez delivers some fantastic visuals throughout the story. The plot has great tension throughout and Perez is able to deliver that visually with great action and thrilling imagery.
