The Rundown: A Romulan spy takes command of his own covert Starfleet security operation.
A high-level meeting with the highest echelons of Romulan intelligence takers place and their leader makes an example of the Vulcan spy in their midst before exposing the spy he has working in Starfleet and the ways that he has positioned him to get his own command.
Captain Miller has used his time after his return making a name for himself in Starfleet security before being given his own command and a group of Red Shirts with questionable backgrounds to take on more questionable missions. Missions that will get many of them killed and expose that Miller and his people are being watched by someone other than the Romulans.
The Story: Duggan crafts an entertaining and thrilling story in this first issue. The story is definitely a darker look at the universe of Star Trek and it has an interesting perspective that is worth exploring. There are a couple of moments that feel a little heavy handed, but the story is enjoyable, filled with great action and surprises and I look forward to seeing where it goes next.
The Art: Scott Buoncristiano creates some beautiful art in the first issue. I love the look of the characters and the world and there are some great visual details throughout the issue.
