Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man will be teaming up with the protectors of the Wakandan throne, the Dora Milaje for a special three issue miniseries titled Wakanda Forever: The Amazing Spider-Man.
The limited series will be written by fantasy author Nnedi Okorafor with art by Alberto Jimenez Alburquerque and Terry Dodson. The story will feature Okoye, Ayo and Aneka traveling to New York to investigate a threat to Wakanda’s National Security. In the process, they meet up with Peter Parker aka Spider-Man.
In an interview with Vogue magazine, Okorafor said; “You’re going to see the Dora Milaje for the first time as an independent entity; they’re not under the shadow of the throne.” When talking about the standout nature of the characters featured in this year’s Black Panther film by Ryan Coogler, she said; “People have craved these types of characters for a while, and I don’t think that craving is going to pass.; it’s something that is here to stay.”
According to Marvel editor Will Moss, this will not be the last adventure for the Dora Milaje. The narrative will continue in Wakanda Forever: X-Man in July and Wakanda Forever: Avengers in August.
