The Rundown: Malcolm and his new team take on threats while Frank has some personal issues.

Malcolm is settling into his new role as a member of S.O.S. West and he and his team find themselves fighting a group of invaders from beneath the sea. At the same time, Maxine finds herself being accosted on the street by a familiar and annoying public domain rodent.

As the team deals with the aftermath of their mission and Malcolm goes looking for his wife, Angel’s husband Frank gets into a fight at his job. A fight that will leave a man dead and Frank wondering what will happen to him because of the dark entity controlling his body.

The Story: Larsen delivers some fun action and thrills throughout the issue. I continue to enjoy the story and characters a lot. That being said, there is a tendency in media for writers to use the “N” word as a means of showcasing the racism in a character. It’s not a unique phenomenon and frankly not as shocking as they think it is. It’s become almost unnecessary as a tool and needs to be retired because it feels like a quick way of courting controversy rather than serving the story.

The Art: Larsen continues to deliver some wonderfully detailed and absolutely adult oriented art throughout the issue. It makes for some fun and interesting visual moments.
