According to a story in The Hollywood Reporter, actor Donnie Yen will be taking a role in the live action adaptation of the Disney animated film. Yen is a huge star in China and his performance in the Ip Man series of films have won him fans all over the world. American audiences will also remember Yen in one of the more memorable roles in the Star Wars spinoff film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story where he played the role of Chirrut Imwe.
Yen will be taking on the role of Commander Tung, who will play a mentor to the character as she trains to be a warrior in the Chinese military. The film will be directed by Niki Caro and is slated for release March 27, 2020.
