The Rundown: Sonja encounters a series of conflicts as she attempts to rescue Sitha.
Sonja battles a deadly opponent as she searches for Sitha. Once she reaches a certain location, she is able to gain some valuable information. Soon Sonja meets a stranger that warns her of her enemies’ fantastic powers. Later, she meets a dear friend that comes to her aide during a conflict. Afterwards, Sonja and Samosh board the Blinded Twins ship in an attempt to locate Sitha. Finally, Sonja and her companion reach the shore and discover something unexpected.
The Story: Andolfo and Blengino create an interesting third chapter in this adventure saga. I love the fact that a female protagonist is insanely strong and powerful. And it’s a nice turn of events for her to have male love interest in the side-kick role. This story flows effortlessly and even though the action is at the forefront, there is still a bit of an emotional tie-in that locks you in to the character’s personality and drive. I am enjoying this iteration of Red Sonja and look forward to the next episode.
The Art: This is a good-looking issue filled with exciting action scenes. The bold color work and attention to detail amp up the intensity and perfectly matches the tone throughout the story. I found the pages compelling and transportive.
