One of the things that has been a standout of the new Punisher series on Netflix is the uncompromising look at the character of Frank Castle aka The Punisher and the violence that he deals out.

In the wake of the real life violence that descended on Las Vegas recently, Netflix and Marvel Studios have decided to, out of respect to the victims of the tragedy, pull the show’s presence at this year’s New York Comic Con as well as push back the premiere of the series, which was slated to begin this month. “We are stunned and saddened by this week’s senseless act in Las Vegas,” Netflix and Marvel said in a joint statement today. “After careful consideration, Netflix and Marvel have decided it wouldn’t be appropriate for Marvel’s The Punisher to participate in New York Comic-Con.”

In addition, a Punisher preview event that was scheduled for October 7th was also cancelled. That event was slated to be simulcast out of Paris. There is currently no official launch date for the series.
