The Rundown: Punchline’s actions are questioned by those around her in the aftermath of a deadly incident.

The story opens with Punchline and members of the Royal Flush having a disturbing interaction with Professor Pig. Later, in an apartment in Alleytown a conversation with someone expected leads Punchline to make a surprising decision. She is soon interrupted by Bluebird, and their confrontation prompts Punchline to take action. Meanwhile, Ventura Fremont questions the FBI regarding the recent event at Ace Chemicals. Finally, someone close to a member of the Bat Family finds themselves in imminent danger.

The Story: “What do you call a joke with no Punchline?” This powerfully delivered line perfectly sums up the third episode of this series. Punchline’s story so far is one of an unstoppable villain on her way to becoming a cult of personality. However, this narrative delves deeper into her psyche, unearthing her not so hidden truth. I find it telling that the more she gains in terms of success and stature, the more she loses control of herself. With so many enemies after her, and her cohorts questioning her decisions, will her erratic behavior and the voices in her head lead to her eventual demise? I’m definitely looking forward to finding out.

The Art: This issue contains stunning visuals, including intense action scenes. The attention to detail and realistic comic styling provide for emotionally connective and overall immersive experience.
