The incident in the club has caught her attention and the surveillance video puts Pearl in the middle of the mayhem. With a warrant for her arrest issued and Ricky safely tucked away, Pearl and Kimmy hit the road to talk to someone who may have a way of getting her Japan.

Pearl wants answers. Answers about her past, her mother and her mother’s time in the Yakuza. Unfortunately, when Pearl and Kimmy arrive at their destination, they discover that their contact has already been intercepted by the last person she wants to see.

Brian Michael Bendis doesn’t miss a step with the start of this new arc for Pearl. The story and dialogue are great. There are some amazing human moments between Ricky and Pearl. The pace of the story is steady and it builds to an interesting cliffhanger. Bendis strikes an engaging balance between the characters and situations of the previous arc and the promise of this one. It will be interesting to see where this story goes next.

Michael Gaydos’ art is brilliant. Every panel is a beautiful work of art in itself. The backgrounds are amazing and the characters feel real because of complex and beautiful facial expressions and details.
