The Rundown: The Allies send a weapon to stop a Nazi experiment, Dracula himself.

It’s 1944 and a train speeds through the countryside before being hit by an object that turns out to be a coffin carrying Dracula himself. Partnered with the allies, Dracula proceeds through the train killing every Nazi he finds as he looks for the targets of his mission, twins who have developed a virus that turns others into vampires.

As he speeds through the train, he recounts the deal that he made that brought him back to the land of the living. A deal that requires him to destroy every vampire he created. A deal that will reveal that the twins he is seeking have a deeper connection to Count Dracula and the virus they are developing.

The Story: Porter creates a thrilling, action packed and entertaining story in this issue. I like the expansion of the Dracula mythology and how it is worked into the story. I really like the premise of the story as well as how Dracula has evolved as a character. There are some great stakes (no pun intended) for the characters in this first issue and I am interested in seeing how the reveal at the end of the issue plays out for Dracula and his mission.

The Art: Cannon creates some beautifully detailed and visually exciting art throughout the issue. I love the visual style a lot and how it lends itself perfectly to the action and thrills of the story.
