The Rundown: Kamala’s return to Jersey City will get some unwanted attention from everyone.

Kamala returns to Jersey City to help out as Ms. Marvel, but her recent outing as a mutant is causing some unexpected complications from a community that used to embrace her as a hero. Not only does she have to deal with the rising anti-mutant threats around her, but her friends no longer know she’s a hero and she’s torn about whether to tell them.

As she continues to help as a superhero, an encounter with a mutant using plant powers to steal gets the attention of Hordeculture. At the same time, an old enemy returns with plans for Ms. Marvel.

The Story: Vellani and Pirzada deliver a fun, entertaining and thrilling story in this first issue. The story is filled with fun character interactions as well as a great tone. Vellani has a unique and interesting connection to the character and I continue to enjoy seeing her delve into the world of the comics after playing her in live action. She delivers the essence of the character through her dialogue and humor and I look forward to what happens next.

The Art: Godlewski delivers beautifully detailed and interesting art throughout the issue. The visuals are fun as well as thrilling with the action.
