The Rundown: Two teams square off when one of their own begins working for the Shredder.

The Power Rangers have their hands full taking on another of Rita’s monsters in Angel Grove. Conspicuously missing is Tommy and Kimberly and the others know it. After the battle, Kimberly goes to Zordon to see if he can find the missing Green Ranger. He tells her the next time Tommy morphs, they should be able to find him.

In New York, the Turtles have intercepted the Foot Clan as they attempt to steal an unknown device. When Raphael gets schooled by one of the masked ninjas, he seeks revenge. When the ninja turns out to be Tommy, the Turtles converge to bring him down. When he morphs to stay in the fight, the rest of the Rangers arrive to back him up against the Turtles with Shredder watching the action and planning his next move.

The Story: This is a fun first issue filled with everything that makes both of these franchises enduring to their fans and Ryan Parrott manages to put these teams in a story that doesn’t feel awkward or campy. The story has a natural flow to it that I liked and Tommy’s characterization is perfectly matched to the time period the story takes place with the Rangers. It will be interesting to see where this dark storyline takes the character and what twists and turns the story takes both with Shredder and potentially Rita as well.

The Art: Simone di Meo delivers some stunning art in this issue. The characters look amazing and I love the style of the action. Everything has a sense of energy and movement, especially the fight scenes. Well done first issue.
