Marvel Studios took over Hall H at this year’s San Diego Comic Con International and reminded audiences why their presence is one of the hottest draws in town.

Besides confirming projects we’ve already reported on, Kevin Feige and company shared the upcoming slate of new movies coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and there were a few surprises to be found.

Black Widow will be the next film released by Marvel Studios. The film will feature Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff squaring off against villains including Taskmaster and Melina Vostokoff aka Iron Maiden played by Rachel Weisz. Also in the cast are Ray Winstone, David Harbour and Florence Pugh. It’s been revealed by Digital Spy that the film will take place between the events of Captain America Civil War and Avengers Endgame. Black Widow will be released in theaters May 1, 2020.

Eternals will follow Widow at the box office and Kevin Feige brought out the cast of the upcoming film to Hall H. The cast includes Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh, Don Lee and Angelina Jolie. The god-like offshoot of humanity will take on the genetically unstable Deviants to protect humanity. Eternals will be released in theaters November 6, 2020.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will start off 2021 for Marvel Studios. The film will feature Simu Liu in the title role as the Master of Kung Fu faces The Mandarin played by Tony Leung. Awkwafina will also star in the film directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. The Mandarin, originally an Iron Man villain, and his organization were originally hinted at in Iron Man 3 with Sir Ben Kingsley playing an actor hired to play the villain. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will open in theaters February 12, 2021.

Scott Derrickson and Benedict Cumberbatch return for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Derrickson stated that he didn’t want to make a regular sequel so he is going to embrace the dark side of the MCU and make the first “scary” Marvel Cinematic Universe film with Multiverse of Madness. Joining Strange in this dark adventure will be Elisabeth Olsen returning as Wanda Maximoff aka the Scarlet Witch. It was also revealed that the events of Olsen’s Disney+ series Wandavision will tie directly to the plot of Multiverse of Madness. Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness will open in theaters May 7, 2021.

One of the biggest surprises from Hall H was an unexpected return. Taika Waititi is returning to the director’s chair for a fourth Thor movie, but this time with a twist. Thor and Thor: The Dark World star Natalie Portman is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to reprise her role of Jane Foster in Thor Love and Thunder. In this new film, Jane Foster will become the Thunder God as she did in the comics. Portman will star alongside Tessa Thompson who will return as Valkyrie and Chris Hemsworth will return as well. Thor Love and Thunder will be released in theaters November 5, 2021.

In addition to the films announced with release dates, Feige confirmed that a new Blade movie was in development with Mahershala Ali taking on the role as well a new Fantastic Four film coming soon. Also in development are sequels to Black Panther, Captain Marvel and Guardians of the Galaxy which director James Gunn will tackle after he completes The Suicide Squad for DC and Warner Brothers.
