The Rundown: The Eskaton has been released and it is after the only New God on board.

The Eskaton is after Orion and it is willing to go through Hax and Jessica Cruz to get to him. With her ring gone, Jessica will have to rely on the Omega energy inside her to try to keep the creature at bay. Unfortunately, that has unexpected effects.

On the run from the creature and destroying the ship in the process, Jessica calls for help from her new allies and they spring into action. With things getting desperate, the Red Lantern comes up with a plan to stop the creature and it will be a surprise to everyone.

At the same time, Jessica is still getting messages from Cyborg and the new one warns her that they are coming for her.

The Story: Dan Abnett tells a story full of action and adventure. I really love this new, confident streak in Jessica Cruz. She evolving into an interesting and dynamic character. The plot moves really well. The dialogue between the characters is crisp and entertaining. Everything in the story leads to an impressive and unexpected conclusion that gives me a better appreciation for characters like Blackfire and especially Dex-Starr. This was a fun issue with some impressive stakes and a lot of unexpected moments that make it incredibly entertaining. I can’t wait to see where this story goes next because the unpredictability of it is part of its appeal.

The Art: Will Conrad’s art is filled with gorgeous details. The way the panels are laid out to showcase the action are amazing. I love the details in the chase sequence as well as the final confrontation with the Eskaton.
