The Rundown: The survivor of a tragedy discovers that a similar evil has returned to the area.

In a small town in Washington, a young woman is found by police in the middle of a slaughter. Years later, Sutton Reed is living her life in the same town as a real estate agent along with her daughter and navigating some hurt feelings from some of the people in the town.

When a couple of teenagers another town over decide to park in the woods, they are attacked. With the girl killed in the same way Sutton’s friends were and the boy missing, a private investigator pays her a visit. A visit that prompts Sutton to summon the entity responsible for the murder of her friends who confirms that he is not the only one.

The Story: Parrott delivers a fun, interesting and entertaining story in this first issue. The story has a wonderful mixture of darkness and humor in the character of Sutton and I like seeing not only how she navigates her life, but also how she navigates the town. The story takes some interesting twists and turns especially the final twist towards the end of the issue and what it means for both Sutton’s story and how she is possibly connected to the events happening in the present.

The Art: Cadonici delivers beautiful art throughout the issue. I love the character designs and how the imagery utilizes shadow to capture the tone and mood of the story.
