The Rundown: Hellboy and Anastasia unleash chaos looking for answers to an ancient mystery.
The area is in chaos as the volcano is beginning to erupt and the workers run away in panic. The only two left in the area are Hellboy and Anastasia who is desperate for answers from the resurrected witch that they came to the volcano to see. Unfortunately, she is not willing to give answers without a price.
Liz and Abe pay the professor a visit with some distressing news about the department bringing in someone to replace Hellboy as an unexpected eruption disrupts the ritual he’s using to trap the witch again. As she escapes, Hellboy and Anastasia regroup and are more determined to get the answers they seek and stop both witches in the process.
The Story: Mignola and Golden craft a fun, thrilling and entertaining story in this issue. I like the evolution of Hellboy’s relationship with Anastasia and the chemistry they have with each other. There is great action throughout the story and the events culminate in a fun cliffhanger that makes me excited to see more adventures for this pair.
The Art: Nieto delivers stunning art throughout the issue. The action is visually thrilling and the character designs and environments look amazing.
