The highly anticipated Han Solo prequel film has been in production since January of this year and now comes news that will come as a shock to fans of the film and the filmmakers.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller have left the project over the often used term “creative differences”. Lord and Miller released a statement earlier saying, “Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew,”.

As news of the split sent fans reeling, Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm released a statement as well, “Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it’s become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we’ve decided to part ways. A new director will be announced soon,” she stated.

The film, starring Alden Ehrenreich as the lead character alongside Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke and Donald Glover is still expected to meet its release date of May 25, 2018.
