The Rundown: Hal Jordan has returned to Earth to begin a new adventure.

Coast City’s hero Hal Jordan has returned after leaving the corps and refusing to work for the United Planets with the Guardians missing. Being back on Earth, Hal has to rebuild his life and that includes getting a job. After paying a visit to Carol Ferris, he finds himself testing new military drones unaware that one his most persistent enemies is on Earth as well.

When a super powered villain takes to the streets, Hal jumps into action and shows the world that he doesn’t need the corps to be a Green Lantern.

The Story: I was reticent to get on board with a Hal Jordan, Earth-focused story, but Adams has impressed me with this first issue. There are two stories in this issue and both have some compelling character moments and a bigger mystery that has gotten my attention as a Green Lantern fan. I enjoyed the energy of this issue and look forward to seeing what happens next.

The Art: Xermanico delivers some beautifully detailed art throughout the issue. The action is blisteringly gorgeous and filled with great visual thrills.
