The Rundown: Peacemaker Red gets a new partner while the New Joker causes havoc in Gotham City. The Joker discovers a disadvantaged Batman.

Peacemaker Red decides to take Hunter Panic under his wing. The two then question Punchline about her involvement with a dangerous villain. Afterwards, the duo rush to the rescue of some important people. Then, two new masks confront each other for the first time. Meanwhile, Nightwing and Talia Al Ghul have a surprising conversation.

The Spill
Batman and the Joker find themselves in a deadly predicament. The two must decide if they can work together to survive.

The Story: This chapter is filled with both intense action sequences and surprising new content. Culver does an excellent job of blending the two in a way that does not feel overwhelming. The development between Nightwing and Talia is extremely interesting and filled with promise. As is the new villain arc. I’m excited to find out what happens next.

I really enjoyed the B story. It was the perfect one shot tale and I like how it delves into the peculiar relationship between the Joker and the Dark Knight.

The Art: Both stories in this issue feature a black and white motif. Although the coloring is the same, the illustrations are presented in a different manner. Malignant Humor is a more adventurous tale, and thus a light, simplistic Drawing style is used. Meanwhile, the spill takes a darker edge and relies on detailed, heavy lines to visually convey its message.
