The Rundown: Mal and Zoe find themselves in the middle of another potential Unification War as they try to make it back to the Serenity.

River and Simon keep Jayne from stopping Wash and Book from looking for Zoe by keeping the Sheriff busy with an elaborate story. When she overplays her hand, the three of them end up in jail with Kaylee and her new friend having to find a way to break them out, literally.

Mal and Boss Moon’s uneasy alliance starts to evolve into a dysfunctional friendship as the two of them fight the encroaching bugs. When the two decide to help an Alliance base being overrun, they find out quickly that no good deed goes unpunished. At the same time, Zoe and her new “army” find themselves with some unusual allies who want to go to war with the Alliance.

The Story: Greg Pak has a lot of story in this issue and he does a great job of keeping all the plot balls in the air. Each story takes some interesting and entertaining twists and turns for the characters involved and Pak manages to pace the story in a way that gives an immediacy to the action and adventure.

The Art: Dan McDaid delivers some beautiful and detailed art throughout this issue and there is a sense of movement in the style of the art that gives the panels life.
