Horror impresario Eli Roth has brought us different types of horror in films like Hostel, Cabin Fever and The Green Inferno. Jack Black has been a staple of comedies for years with films like Tropic Thunder and the upcoming sequel to Jumanji.
It was announced recently that Eli Roth and Jack Black would be working together on a new project based on a classic gothic horror story for children. Roth will direct and Black will star in a big screen adaptation of the 1973 gothic horror novel The House With A Clock in its Walls by John Bellairs and will be adapted by Eric Kripke.
The book centers on a ten-year old orphan boy named Lewis Barnavelt who moves to a small town in Michigan to live with his uncle. He discovers that his uncle is secretly a warlock, the next door neighbor is a witch and the house they live in was previously owned by a couple who used black magic to bring about the end of the world through an eternally ticking clock hidden in the house.
The movie will be produced by Amblin Entertainment. No release date has been revealed.
