Star Wars Episode IX is currently filming outside London and now there is news that a new cast member has been added to the production.
In an exclusive story in Deadline, Dominic Monaghan has joined the cast of Episode IX. No information is known about his character, but the actor himself has confirmed his involvement. “The galaxy far far away has had almost as much influence as the one I live in, so I am delighted to be involved,” Monaghan said.
Joining the Star Wars sequel under the direction of JJ Abrams reunites the actor with his Lost executive producer. This will also be the second time Monagham has been involved in a billion dollar franchise. After rising to fame in the states for his role as Charlie on the series Lost, he took the role of Merry in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy. The trilogy garnered critical acclaim as well as multiple Academy Awards including Best Picture for the third film in the series Return of the King.
