The Rundown: Batman wakes up to a new threat as Gotham’s newest imports make their moves in the city.
It’s been days since Batman’s near fatal battle at the docks and Gordon has managed to nurse him back to health. After leaving, Bruce decides to do some reconnaissance on the newest imports to Gotham City. Meanwhile, Two-Face decides it’s time to retake the city’s underworld and he makes a violent example of someone who used to work for him.
The mysterious Gael arrives to give both a warning to Harvey and get information about their operation. That night, Batman investigates an abandoned power station and not only discovers Gael there waiting, but also that Batman wasn’t the target, it was Mr. Freeze.
The Story: Ram V is crafting an consistently intriguing and engaging mystery in this arc and I love the build up as well as the evolution of the characters within it. There are unknown elements that make me excited for the threat building within this story and I like not knowing where the story will go next. The story feels fresh, new and vibrant.
The Art: Reis delivers some brilliantly dark and detailed art that perfectly captures the emotion and tone of the story. You feel the darkness the same way Bruce does throughout and I love it.
