The Rundown: The next round of fights will call for the heroes and villains to team up and for Superman to face a growing truth.

Superman finds himself thinking about the potential world he could create if he wins the contest. The dream ends with him standing next to Lex as the remaining fighters find themselves facing the next round. A round that will force them to either team with each other or choose champions to fight alongside in two vs two combat.

As the fights begin and both heroes and villains fall, Superman is confronted by both the past and possible future if he wins. A future that is threatened if he doesn’t finally embrace the reality of the battle and fight to win. At the end of the round, four champions remain and they are taken to the next world to face the Absolute versions of themselves in combat.

The Story: Snyder and Williamson continue to craft a thrilling, engaging and entertaining story in this issue. I love the focus on Superman finally embracing the truth about the contest and what compromises he has to make in order to win. I also really love the way Lex reacts to Superman’s actions and what that means for their next encounter. The story continues to be intense, engaging and compelling as it brings the characters to their next encounter which is something I have been greatly anticipating.

The Art: Fernandez and Xermanico craft beautifully detailed and visually exciting art throughout the issue. I love the visuals and the action.
