LA just got too hot for Charlie and Vita as they’re adventure on the west coast comes to a dramatic end.

Trotter has put his plan into full effect. A plan that is ridiculously complicated and full of clichés. A plan that Cam keeps trying to remind him has not been fully thought out. Fortunately for Charlie and Vita, Trotter’s over the top antics cause his audience more harm than the target and her bodyguard. Antics that also bring in the attention of the police.

After an all too brief firefight and Trotter receiving a severe and much deserved lesson delivered by Vita, the bodyguard gets some much-needed advice from her ex and the possibility of reconciliation. It’s a tender moment that gives Vita some character development. As the pair decide to leave the city, the unknown threat dogging them gets closer and Vita discovers that the hit on Charlie is more serious than a disgruntled ex.

Sebela is upping the ante on both the thrills and action in this issue. Not only is the drama of the chase compelling, but the human drama continues to be interesting to read as well. The complicated relationship Vita has is a highlight of this issue and I like that the issue focused more on Vita as a character than Charlie and her personality. The fact that the hit on Charlie has its own conspiratorial bent makes the story bigger and more exciting.

Ro Stein’s art punctuates the frenetic and ramped up pace of this story. The art complements the over the top characters and situations perfectly and creates some thrilling visual moments.
