Chiki-Chiki Boxy Racers
Chiki-Chiki Boxy Racers is a game that gives you control over a series of pixellated block-style vehicles as you run rally races across different landscapes from a city to a jungle setting. You can play by yourself, with others or online with more vehicles and races unlocked as you progress through the game.
Chiki-Chiki Boxy Racers isn’t trying to be anything more than what it is. It is a top down, rally car racing game. The graphics reflect the stripped down, simple style of the game. It is boxy and that’s a good thing for the most part. Rather than concentrating on the style of the car I’m driving, I was able to concentrate more on gameplay and strategy. The simplicity of the graphics doesn’t make the game any less vibrant and colorful to look at. I liked the look of the race environments and they were smooth to play in. I never felt cheated with the look of the races.
Simple set up and straight-forward controls made the game easy to dive into. You are given the option to practice tracks and the further you progress, the more you might find that useful, but I found the tracks relatively easy to navigate and changing the camera helped enhance the experience of the race. The controls are easy to master and the tracks are interesting, but there is very little variety in the races themselves from a control standpoint.
Chiki-Chiki Boxy Racers is a fun game to pick up occasionally and play. It even has fun modes that can keep an additional player engaged. It’s not a game that will stick in your head as something overly compelling to play. It is definitely more suited to the occasional pick up either between games or to pass time.
