Lorena Payan, one of the world’s most powerful people, has brought in an expert on trauma to determine how a population will react to back to back global events. She specifically wants to know that if things go bad again, how will the populace react. The answers are not encouraging.

Even after the first event that almost devastated the globe and led to the rise of people with enhanced abilities, the fear of another event still looms. When it is revealed that more objects have rained from the sky and landed all over the world, the new breed of heroes steps in to try to help. Unfortunately, they will find that they are dealing with forces beyond their comprehension and they only have seven days to prevent a disaster.

The Story: Gail Simone crafts a story that is filled with tension, humor, heart and urgency. All of the characters are well developed and compelling. The story is well written and fun, but filled with a level of tension that pays off with the final reveal. The final panels do a brilliant job of setting up a story that promises to be tense and action packed. I can’t wait to see what happens next for these characters and this world.

The Art: Jose Luis delivers some stunning detailed and beautiful artwork in this first issue. The characters look amazing and the action is fantastic.
