When the killer’s first attempt at the detective fails, Batman begins investigating the assassin as Montoya is being honored for her work. The assassin strike again when Bruce tries to give Montoya and her date a ride home and is almost successful the second time.
When the assassin goes after someone close to Montoya, she goes after him and Batman will have to find her before she becomes the assassin’s next victim.
The Story: Burnett and Dini keep the spirit, pacing and tone of the animated series alive with this issue. The story is engaging, fun and thrilling. The pace is definitely fast, but never takes away from the story or characters and it was a fun read from start to finish. Making Batman vulnerable in the story is another great addition and that vulnerability leads to some great interactions between Bruce and Alfred as well as an awesome moment between Bruce and Renee.
The Art: Jordan Gibson nails the look and feel of the animated series and adds some great action and visual thrills throughout.
