The Rundown: Batman fights a monster of his own creation, but he doesn’t fight alone.

With his body battered and broken, Batman stands no chance against Failsafe. Fortunately, his friends in the Justice League arrive to rescue him, but Superman is the first to fall in an attack that Bruce predicts based on what he would do in the situation. When the rest of the League attacks, it gives Green Arrow and Robin enough time to get the pair onto a ship and escape, but Bruce has other ideas.

In Gotham, Failsafe doesn’t go after the departing ship. Instead, he lures the League into an area that was setup specifically to take them down. When Bruce decides that his staying with Clark puts them in further danger, he makes a dangerous decision. One that will have dark repercussions when the extent of Failsafe’s plan is revealed.

The Story: Zdarsky delivers an action packed, thrilling adventure in this issue. The story is filled with tension and awesome surprises that engaged me as a reader. I loved all of the action in the issue and how Failsafe utilizes Gotham as a trap for the Justice League. A move that perfectly illustrates the darkness within Batman. A great story that ends on a brilliantly executed cliffhanger that makes me excited to see what comes next.

The Art: Jimenez delivers some beautifully detailed and visually thrilling art throughout the issue. The action is perfectly executed and I love the fast, frenetic style of the imagery.
