The Invisible Mafia continues as Clark goes to Perry with everything he has so far on the dead mobsters in Metropolis. Unfortunately, it’s not much and Perry lets him know it. As he decides to go to Goode to see what she knows, Perry calls Clark into his office where the Planet’s new gossip columnist ambushes him. She reveals that not only is Lois still on the planet, but she was visited in her Chicago hotel room by Lex Luthor. The reveal prompts Clark to fly to Chicago to confront his missing wife.

After finding Lois and the two of them making their escape, they have some alone time and Lois explains why she came back to Earth and for what purpose. The couple discuss everything that’s been happening and they seem to come to a decision that benefits the both of them and what they need at the moment. At the same time, the Planet’s new gossip columnist needs some rescuing herself and that might have some link to the red cloud that’s been killing the mobsters in the city.

I liked this issue a lot. It did a great job of slowing down the action and concentrating on the relationship between Clark and Lois. Even though I have questions about why she left Jon with Jor-El, it’s interesting to see the aftermath of her decision. The lengths she goes to in order to hide herself from everyone, including her husband is something intriguing that I hope Bendis explores further.

Sook’s art is well done in this issue. The moments that stood out to me were the moments between Lois and Clark as a couple. That intimacy is drawn really well and aligns great with Bendis’ dialogue.
