The Rundown: Superman finally tracks down Brainiac who has been waiting for the encounter.

After hunting for Brainiac labs all over the world, Superman and Steel have finally managed to track down Brainiac himself who invites Kal onto his ship under threat of releasing a devastating attack on the surface. At the same time, Lois finds a catatonic Lex Luthor and tries to interview him about the murder of his family.

To prevent Brainiac from devastating the planet, Superman has to enter the creature’s mind where he is tortured. Lex is confronted by Lois and makes his move to get revenge for what happened to him. In the background of the violence and vengeance, the story of Jor-El and Lara unfolds on the planet Krypton.

The Story: Aaron creates a dark, thrilling tale filled with tension and suspense. Aaron also crafts a sweet, engaging love story for Jor-El and Lara and I love how both stories complement and enhance each other. There are some deeply emotional moments throughout both parts of the story and they blend together seamlessly. Not only do I love the tension of the Kal/Brainiac confrontation, but I love where Lex enters the story and what his presence means for both Brainiac and Superman going forward.

The Art: Juan Ferreyra, Carmine Di Giandomenico and Rafa Sandoval beautifully blend their artistic styles together in a way that makes you appreciate every visual moment for not only its style, but its tone.
