The Rundown: Renfield decides that it is time to leave his master.

After suffering multiple indignities, Renfield continues to serve Count Dracula by bringing him fresh victims to feed his indulgences. As he waits for his primised reward, he continues to deal with his master’s hunger and lust as well as insults and taunts from everyone.

After bringing a new group of victims to the master to feed on, Renfield is left to clean up the mess including a woman he began to like. A woman the master decided to feed on last and taunt Renfield about. The servant finally finds the strength to leave, but his connection to the Count will make him desperate to find a way to purge him from his body.

The Story: Dastmalchian and Kilpatrick continue to craft an interesting and entertaining story in this issue. I love the follow up and how it takes the story from Renfield’s perspective. While Igor’s story was more about the character’s anger, this story is filled with a sense of desperation and obsession on the part of Renfield. It allows the story to take a darker tone as the character must find a way to escape his circumstances as well as the real danger of the creature he serves.

The Art: Piazzalunga crafts some brilliantly detailed and visually exciting art throughout the issue. I love the visual style and the brutality of the imagery.
