The Rundown: Remy and Rogue go looking for a cure for his affliction while the kids clash with their new mentors.

Rogue and Gambit have made their way to a remote monastery in search of a man who could possibly help Remy remove the demon Wyvern that is trying to take him over. After convincing the man to help, his efforts allow for the release of another demon who is connected to the power within Remy. Unfortunately, their efforts take some dark turns and they might need more help than the priest can provide.

At Haven House, the young mutants begin their training with their new mentors Monet and Quicksilver who are not having the easiest time connecting to the kids. Calico is taking things harder than they imagined and lashing out at Quicksilver because of it. At the same time, Nightcrawler and Logan say a prayer for a friend and Deathdream encounters some spectral familiar faces on the grounds.

The Story: Simone crafts a thrilling, emotional and entertaining story in this issue. I love the contrasting stories and the tension each part of the story builds and maintains. Rogue and Gambit’s story has great suspense as they try to find a cure for him and discover more about what is affecting the man. The Haven House story has some great tension between the characters, especially Calico and Quicksilver. I really like that it doesn’t get easily resolved and that both Quicksilver and Monet still have things to learn even as they are cast in the role of teachers. There are some great haunting moments towards the end of the issue and I cannot wait to see what it all means.

The Art: Vecchio delivers stunning art throughout the issue. I love the visuals, character designs and action a lot. What I really love is that the visual style stays consistent both in the moments of action as well as those that are character focused.
