The Rundown: Cliff and his expedition find something unexpected when they finally reach the island.
After the rescue at sea, Cliff and his friends are preparing to do some recon over the island, but Miss Payne and Tintin insist on coming along. At the same time, Betty and her new boyfriend Marco decide to hit the island to take advantage of the setting for a photo shoot. As Cliff and the others make their way to the island, they find themselves in the presence of a dead dinosaur killed by something much bigger.
Cliff goes looking for more information and is attacked by pterodactyls while Betty and Miss Payne are kidnapped by natives who have decided that they will make the perfect sacrifice to the real ruler of the island.
The Story: Layman crafts a fun, funny and entertaining adventure in this issue. I continue to love the world of the Rocketeer and how this story manages to incorporate other characters from that time including Tintin and Popeye. The mystery of the story isn’t really breaking new ground because it is obvious where it is going if you’re a fan of the era, but Layman manages to make the journey fun and exciting enough to want to keep reading.
The Art: Edgar delivers great looking art throughout the issue. The visual style of the art brilliantly matches the tone of the story.
