The Rundown: Bruce finds an ideal world and the Heart vows to punish him if he doesn’t destroy it.

Bruce finds a world where Damian is Batman and it is a paradise. Crime is gone, Damian is a father and everyone remembers and loves Bruce. Bruce stays in this world getting to know his grandson, connecting with his son and seeing the man Damian has become. Unfortunately, the heart will not let him enjoy it for long and will punish both him and the world if he doesn’t defeat his son in battle.

Damian knows what the heart wants and decides to bring in the rest of the family to help Bruce find a way to win. As he sees the lives of his family and the families they’ve made, he builds something for his son before they begin their battle. A battle that will force Bruce to face something within himself before giving him a dark choice to make.

The Story: Williamson saves the best for last as Bruce is tortured with happiness he hasn’t achieved and a world he can wish for. I love that the characters know the truth of their circumstances and don’t look for ways to circumvent reality. Instead, they come together as a family to help one of their own. It’s a testament to who the character of Batman is and what he represents to the people closest to him. A great finale that leaves some interesting breadcrumbs in its cliffhanger.

The Art: Mora continues to delight me with beautifully detailed and visually stunning art throughout the issue. I love the art style, the character designs and the way there is always something to capture the eye on every page.
