The Rundown: Elsie goes on a solo journey as the humans get closer to Pet City.

Elsie has been banished from Pet City and finds herself confronted by an entity who tells her that she belongs alone. That her journey is just beginning and that the danger coming for Pet City is not her problem anymore. At the same time, some of the cats confront Lucky about the fact that William has gone rabid and is hunting cats throughout Pet City, but Lucky refuses to tell the others so he doesn’t lose power and position.
Lucky has no plan to defend the other cats and things in the store are deteriorating quickly as the humans move in. When William emerges and kills another cat, the others begin to flee as the humans enter the store. Elsie returns and tries to warn the other cats, but she is too late as things escalate violently and one of them goes down while the others find themselves behind bars.
The Story: Fleecs crafts a dark, thrilling and entertaining story in this issue. I like Elsie’s journey and how it challenges her ideas of what her life should be. I like the breakdown of Lucky’s authority in the store as well as the final climactic battle and its resolution. The story ends on a dark note that opens up the possibility of more interesting storytelling to come.
The Art: Forstner and Rodriguez create some beautifully detailed and visually stunning art in the issue. There are some visual scares throughout and some shocking moments that perfectly capture the tone of the story.
