The Rundown: Three tales of the Spyders of the yard as the next chapter of Bug Wars begins.

Lair of the Fire Spiders

Wysta continues her exile when she is tasked to investigate the Great Hardwood, a giant tree in the yard of the house. She discovers that the mytes living in the tree have been decimated by burning webs. She is them attacked by another exiled spyder known as the Wydow who shares a similar story to hers and as they fight, she learns more about this new enemy including who she is working for.

A dark, engaging and action filled story from Aaron that brilliantly sets up a new threat to the yard and its inhabitants. I also really love the visual style.

The Long Way Back

In the Wild Weeds, Wysta’s love and her group attempt to send a warning because wytches are being eaten alive, but they are interrupted by a new threat. Wysta continues to make her way to Agelen when she stumbles upon a young spyderling in trouble. After saving him, she attempts to return him to the other Wytches, but they decide that he is unworthy of return and his fate makes Wysta question her allegiance.

Another dark and intense story filled with great character moments and action. Asrar’s art is amazing and I love the world building being done in this issue.

The Webs of Fate

The Slaymakers are moving back into the house and the Wytches of the Wyrdweb are determined to end their threat by silently moving into the house in order to kill young Slaymaker in his sleep. When the roach guardians discover them, a battle ensues and Xyreena discovers something strange about the boy before she can deliver her killing blow. Something that will cause the coven to rethink their plans and pull back…for now.

A thrilling story filled with tension and suspense enhanced by beautifully detailed art throughout. I love the tease of the next arc in this story and look forward to reading it.
