The Rundown: Clark finds himself in a moral dilemma when the Kent Farm is threatened.
Pa Kent is back at the farm when he receives a foreclosure notice from the bank. He heads to the bank to discover what is happening as Clark, Pete and Lana watch more people descend on the bank to speak with the new bank manager Parmenter about why they are getting notices that their homes are in foreclosure.
After an act that threatens to ruin a lot of lives is thwarted, Clark decides to find a way to save the house. Unfortunately, his first attempt doesn’t get the desired result and Clark is forced to use his brains to uncover the truth being hidden from the town while forces outside of Smallville are planning on what to do with Clark’s alter ego.
The Story: Waid continues to deliver some great flashback stories for Superman in this series. I really like that the story tackles an issue that could easily be solved by Clark with the help of his powers and the lesson he learns instead from his parents. A lesson that will lead him to do something that has broader impact and helps shape him into the hero he becomes.
The Art: Partridge delivers some engaging visuals throughout the issue. I really enjoy the character designs and I like the visual change towards the end of the issue and how it becomes more serious as the story changes.
