The Rundown: Magneto’s X-Men prepare to go back in time to change their future.

In the aftermath of the Age of Apocalypse, Blink and Creed are on a mission to retrieve vital information from the ruins of Chicago. As the group fights against hellish creatures, they find their way barred by a vengeance seeking Havok who wants to destroy their all. After escaping back to their base, Morph reveals the location of their target.

Traveling to their target, Magneto joins his team as they storm the facility and find themselves facing Sinister who insists that he took Forge because he has vital information. Information that will lead Magneto to assemble a small group of X-Men to go back into the past to change their future, but their trip brings them face to face with powerful opposition as it is revealed that Sinister is not acting alone.

The Story: I’m excited to return to the age of apocalypse and Loeb has crafted an interesting and entertaining story in this first issue. I like that the characters are aware of the problems with their world, especially its existence and the story does a great job of creating circumstances that make their mission necessary in the eyes of the characters. There are some great thrills in the story and I look forward to seeing what else emerges from this world and how it will affect the other.

The Art: Di Meo delivers stunning, detailed and visually engaging art throughout the issue. I love Di Meo’s visual style and the character designs are brilliant.
