Wonder Woman writer Allan Heinberg has decided to bring more female superheroes to the screen with a new series for ABC.
According to a Deadline Exclusive, Heinberg is partnering with Marvel Television and ABC Studios to bring a new female focused superhero series to television. Even though Marvel is keeping details of the new series secret, ABC has given a production commitment to the untitled hourlong drama. Heinberg will executive produce the series with Jeph Loeb.
ABC is committed to bringing more Marvel fare to the network with entertainment president Channing Dungey stating “In terms of Marvel, we have some things that we are in discussions with them right now that we are in development,” she said. “I’m very excited about it.” ABC originally developed Jessica Jones for the network, but it migrated to Netflix.
Heinberg has some impressive comic book credentials including creating and writing Young Avengers along with Avengers: The Children’s Crusade. His TV credits include Gilmore Girls, Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal.
Now the speculation begins on who will be featured in the series. Let me know which Marvel character you think should be featured in the new one hour drama on ABC.
