Season 1 Episode 8

The Red Sunset

A young woman decides to come in and speak to Agent Pierce about her experience with Brent Langrock. She tells her about their relationship and how he would change emotionally. How he would get violent and abusive. Then she tells Pierce about his relationships with the other victims.

Pierce and Marshall meet up and confirm that Brent is now a suspect in the murders. Everything seems to fit in regards to his relationship with the victims and the proximity of the crimes. The only thing that doesn’t is the murders on the fishing boat. Those and the explosion at the saw mill still point to Logan as the suspect. The plot thickens as the agents investigate the Tarec and why Mallory left her phone there.

As they enter the cave with the Sheriff (Bobby is apparently missing), they find another victim. One that leads back to a previous witness, Sherman. Pierce’s hostility is in full effect and she comes off a little too aggressive when talking to the Sheriff, especially when they still need to maintain the appearance that they are working together. Their ride back is the first time we hear the word mutant uttered in the series.

We get another flashback scene involving Logan, Sherman and the body of another girl that was never reported to the police. The flashback adds to the overall story in a good way as it sets up the death of a prime suspect, whose murder threatens to rip the town apart.

I love the fact that mutant is being used, but it should have some sooner and been part of the investigation since the beginning. I love the pacing of this episode and that the story seems to be wrapping up in a way that brings together all of the different arcs to one cohesive conclusion.
