The Rundown: Crimson Justice returns to clean up the streets and gets an invitation from his former nemesis.
Frankie’s crew are harassing a local restaurant owner when they are surprised by the return of Crimson Justice. Unfortunately, being out of the game for decades makes John slower than he was and he takes some heavy knocks before finally defeating the bad guys.
For the next few weeks, Crimson Justice brings down more bad guys as he prepares himself to face Dr. Mayhem. Willie comes by to check on him and tell him Frankie’s girl came by to see him after he went on another rant. When John gets a message to meet Dr. Mayhem at the site of their final confrontation, he is shocked to learn the true identity of the killer.
The Story: Tieri delivers a gut punch of a reveal at the end of this issue and I love that I was not expecting it. There are some great character moments for John throughout the issue and I continue to enjoy his psychological issues and how they are affecting him. I love the brutality of this issue and where it leaves John at the end. It’s a cliffhanger that makes me excited to see what happens next.
The Art: Miranda delivers beautifully detailed and visually engaging art throughout the issue. I love the visual style of the issue and the series itself.
