With the upcoming return of the Milestone imprint to DC Comics, the heroes of that universe are set to make a comeback for a new generation of readers.

DC Comics and their parent company Warner Brothers Pictures are also looking to bring those heroes to the big and small screen and The Hollywood Reporter has the exclusive on one of those announcements. According to THR, Warner Brothers and DC Films have enlisted screenwriter Randy McKinnon to pen a movie based on the comic book character Static Shock.

Produced by Michael B Jordan through his Outlier Society production company and Reginald Hudlin, co-exec of Milestone Media, Static Shock tells the story of Vigril Hawkins, a teenager who receives electromagnetic powers and uses them to defend those that cannot defend themselves.

Randy McKinnon was a staff writer on the Netflix horror series Chambers before going on to write the Disney Plus football drama Safety. McKinnon is also the creator and writer of the upcoming sports thriller Wild Rabbit at Hulu.
