The Alan Moore/Dave Gibbons classic Watchmen has gotten a resurgence both in the DC Comics Before Watchmen series and the upcoming Doomsday Clock story arc coming later this year. Now the next chapter in the Watchmen saga is getting underway.

Watchmen

I reported earlier that Lost and The Leftovers Executive Producer Damon Lindelof is developing a live action series based on the Watchmen comic book series for HBO. Well, now it looks like the EP has started production on the series. Lindelof posted a picture to his Instagram that looks like the trophy Hollis Mason (the original Nite Owl) received when he retired.

With The Leftovers ending at HBO and the upcoming final season of powerhouse Game of Thrones, it makes sense that the network would tap into the growing market for superhero entertainment, especially with a series that has a more adult sensibility like many of HBO’s original series. There’s no official premiere date as of yet, but I will continue to follow this story as it develops.

What do you think of a new Watchmen series on HBO? Let me know in the comments.
