As news of the casting for the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow from James Gunn and Warner Brothers broke headlines, one actress from the shortlist has finally been chosen.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline and James Gunn himself, actress Milly Alcock has been cast as Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl in the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Alcock is known for her breakout performance as young Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in the first season of the Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be based on the 2021 limited series from Tom King and Bilquis Evely and chronicles a young girl’s hunt for the killer of her family deep in outer space with Supergirl as her protector and the epic galaxy spanning adventure the duo undertake. James Gunn is writing and directing the upcoming Superman: Legacy which begins filming this spring and there are rumors that Alcock’s Supergirl could make her debut there.

Currently there is no director attached to the project, but as far as the script goes, I would love to see King pen the big screen adaptation of his work because I was excited for his New Gods project that got canceled.
